Andhra University (AU) is one of the oldest educational institutions in India. It is also the first to be considered as a residential and teaching-cum-affiliating University. AU is primarily focused on PG teaching and research.
It was constituted by the Madras Act of 1926. The University College of Arts was inaugurated in 1931 with courses of Telugu language & literature, History, Politics. After one year, the College of Science and Technology was established with Honours courses in Physics and Chemistry.
